Tips for Effortless Summer Hair that are probably way easier than you think…

Okay, let's face it. We’re all super hot during the summer and the last thing we want to do the moment we wake up is think about how hot we’ll be after blow drying all that hair you have. Here are 3 things I like to do to avoid heat styling my hair in the summer time while still feeling like I’ve got a cute style!

  1. Not going to bed with wet hair.

    1. This is a big one because you WILL wake up look’in like quasimodo if you go to bed with wet hair

    2. Sleeping on wet hair can weaken your hair structure because wet hair is more porous and elastic, making it significantly more vulnerable to damage like breakage and split ends. When you toss and turn on a pillow, the friction causes stretched, fragile strands to snap more easily than dry hair, which is stronger and less prone to damage. (Purchasing a silk pillow case can help with frizzy hair as well!)

    3. Option for sleeping on DAMP hair is heatless curls

  2. Learn some cute simple hairstyles

    1. Look out on my instagram this summer for some cute styling tutorials!

    2. TIP: adding a scarf to a braid can make it look so much more elevated and elegant!

    3. I like to loosely braid my hair in the morning after I shower when my hair is *damp (not wet) and let that sit for a couple hours until my event or date. I’ll take it out and put it in a half-up-half-down style and it looks so cute! It’s out of my face for the day and effortlessly styled for the evening.

    4. Also Pinterest has SO many cute ideas (*if you don't have that app downloaded I would highly recommend)

  3. Purchase products that promote your natural hair texture

    1. Learn to embrace your natural texture

    2. Get some leave-in products that can help promote your natural texture to thrive

    3. If you have straight hair, maybe look into getting an oil to really add sleekness, or if you're wanting texture, look into a dry texture spray or a sea salt spray. Salt Dog by Davines is my personal favorite. You can purchase this product at Dimensions Salon in Shingle Springs. My current favorite oil for shine is the Sublimis Oil by Morphosis, this can be found at Lily & Sparrow Hair Studio.
